Tagging, or mentioning others on Google+, is useful to grab someone’s attention, to ask them a question, to give them credit or to call their attention to something.
This ensure they see your post and will often lead to them interacting with you as a result. Any time you tag someone they get a notification (unless they have them turned off), so only tag people tactfully. You can also tag businesses in posts
To mention someone in a post or comment, type +[person’s name] or @[person’s name]. You can also type their email address instead of their name.
As you type, an autocomplete list of people will appear.
- Select the person you want to mention.
- You can only mention people who are on Google+. But you can share with people who aren’t members yet by entering their email after the ‘+’ or ‘@’ signs
To mention a business in a post or comment, type +[businesspage name or number]To find a businesses name or number, browse to their Google My Business page (go to plus.google.co and enter the business name.)
For example, to tag Hunch Manifest, you would type in +HunchManifestIncGuelph.
Finding the Business Number
The number shows up the same way. For example, your neighbour, Craft Wines has the following URL for their Google My Business page. https://plus.google.com/u/0/104818541966791138028/about. To tag them, you would add +104818541966791138028 into your post.
