Add a Follow Company button to your website to increase your followers and influence on LinkedIn. If your company has a LinkedIn Company Page you can add a Follow button to your website. This is an easy way to grow your LinkedIn Company Page follower base. When members click the Follow button, they’ll start following the company and will be informed of company updates and news in the newsfeed.

Warning: this requires an ability to edit your website HTML.

Step 1 – Follow Button Plugin builder

Go to https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins/follow-company and make sure you’re logged in with your user.  The button configuration gives you a few options.

LinkedIn Follower Button Build

  1. Choose the company or showcase page name
  2. Choose language
  3. Choose count mode

If you’re a new business or haven’t done much to build your LinkedIn network followers, you may want to wait to increase your follower count before showing the count. Think of the herd mentality that might influence someone seeing only a few followers versus many followers (e.g. more than 100). If you have more than 100, thats enough social proof to entice the visitor to pay attention.

Step 2 – Place the Code

Press the Get Code button on the builder page and go to your website HTML editor. We use wordpress for our CMS and we’ll place the button in our footer using a widget.

I also added a div element to surround the linkedin button for improved spacing.

<div class="social-button"> LINKEDIN BUTTON JAVASCRIPT </div>

Step 3 – Validate the Button’s Appearance

Lastly, check the button is working and showing up for you. The button uses Javascript and an embedded iframe element (loads a html page inside of your page) which might not show up correctly in all browsers. You’re likely good for all modern browsers but may have difficulty with old Internet Explorer browsers. Here’s how it shows on our page:

As a final note, since we are implementing this to improve our LinkedIn Followers numbers, I’m going to go back and remove the follower count until we get to a 100+.
